Perhaps you are a cyclist or a bicycle enthusiast and you have considered the ultimate challenge. The ultimate challenge of course would be riding across America by bicycle and chances are it would take you between three to six weeks to do it depending on your skill level.

Believe it or not many people have done this and there are actually groups and tours you can go with who have preplanned and pre-selected the route and places to stay along the way. This is one way you can reach your goal and the ultimate challenge of riding your bike across America.

Perhaps you are a solo long-distance cyclist and you may consider a different route and go it alone. If you do you will not be the first person to do this although there are very few people are willing to risk it and go it alone. If you are such a person I commend you and I must say we have something in common; for I too have considered this and actually made plans and selected a route.

Although each rider will have different routes in mind, I believe mine to be a very challenging one, but one which will get me there in about 3 1/2 weeks riding an average of about 200 miles per day. Indeed, that is a large number of miles to ride each day however it is hardly impossible.

Most tours, which go and ride across America with groups of people only ride a few 100 mile legs during the crossing. There is no easy way to cross the United States by bicycle so no matter how you choose to do it; I congratulate you. Please consider this in 2006.
